Liz and Diggs

I had a great time working with Tracy this weekend and meeting Liz and Diggs. What a sweet couple! Diggs is so nice and Liz is funny! Both were so easy going and happy. All the details of the wedding were SO beautiful. What an elegant evening wedding around the holidays!

The wedding coordinators Kristen and Rick did an amazing job putting the final touches on everything and making sure it was just perfect. They took the extra step to prepare a treat for the bride and groom - cotton candy!

The tables and centerpieces were beautiful with black cloths, pink roses, candles, and crystals.

Love, love, LOVE the flowers! Love this picture of the bride's bouquet.

And what a great color combination for the bridesmaids' bouquets.

The guys... stopping traffic...

vs. the girls... looking glam... :)

The BEAUTIFUL St. Francis de Sales Church in Cincinnati. It reminded me a lot of where I got married!

The happy Mr. and Mrs.

One of my favorites - it's so romantic (not to mention dangerous when it's windy out!). I love her shawl, although it was not needed in the 70-degree December weather we had!

Ahh... I love weddings! I'd love to get married again (to the same guy, of course!). I'm gearing up for my final shoot of the year tomorrow on New Year's Eve at Shayla and Rahman's wedding! Can't wait!!

Liz and Her Bridesmaids

Yesterday, Tracy invited me along to assist her with Liz & Michael's wedding. Would you believe it was almost 70 degrees for a December wedding?? I was feeling creative this morning, so I worked on a layout sneak-peek. Liz and her bridesmaids love shoes and love Tracy's pictures of wedding shoes. Here is my tribute to the love of shoes... hope you enjoy! Thank you Tracy for all the creative posing ideas for the shoes!

More wedding photos to come soon...

Holiday Photos

I couldn't go to bed without posting this cute photo from my holiday festivities this week. You've got to love a boy and his new robot on Christmas. Parker is adorable!

More to come soon! I will be sharing some of my favorite photos from my holiday plus two more weddings yet to come for 2008. I will be ringing in the New Year busy, busy, busy! (And I'm definitely not complaining!) Happy weekend!

Bokeh Filter Fun

One more thing about last weekend's Work It Shop, then I'm done for today... Holly gave us a great new idea for the use of something called Bokeh Filters. I saw her cool pictures, then did some research myself. I made my own Bokeh Filters out of construction paper, and voila!

Bokeh is derived from a Japanese word meaning "blur." And when you have a shallow depth of field, it takes the blurred light and turns it into the shape of your filter. Don't mind the lack of composition in these photos (and the blurry dog). Think of the possibilities here... I'm getting more practice with them, and hope to take them to the next wedding I shoot... how cute would the hearts be during the first dance? :) Holiday photos with the snowflakes...? Holiday doggy photos with the bones...?

Adam and I took these at the Columbus Zoo's Wild Lights last night. We waited FOREVER to park and enter (over an hour!) and were freezing... hence Eskimo Hubby! We thought about coming tonight instead... ummm... no thanks to negative temperatures!

Finally, since you've followed me through my madness thus far, I had to give you a quality image that I captured at the zoo last night. One of the very few animals we saw - a beautiful leopard... keeping warm in her den.

Must Love Dogs...

And I do love dogs! And I love my own dogs more than ever today. Someone of a higher power is trying to keep me in check... Just a short story before photos.

On Friday I was beyond furious with my youngest pup Brutus. He has been quite destructive around the house lately, so we started crating him again while we're gone. Somehow while we were at work on Friday he managed to escape from the crate, unwrap, and chew up ALL BUT 2 gifts under our Christmas tree!! Then he finished removing the buttons from my tree skirt (which he had started previously) and urinated on our bed and the family room carpet. He was on a rampage of destruction. I was so ready to give him away to the first bidder. By Saturday, I forgave him... we made up. But he was still on doggy probation. Today, I was out shopping for a new heavy-duty crate and replacement gifts for what he destroyed when I got the call from my hubby, Adam. The high winds today had blown our gate open and both of our dogs were gone. I was about 6 minutes away from home and got there in about 3. We both scoured the neighborhood for about 25 minutes and were losing hope that they were either a) hit by a car, b) lost forever, c) dog-napped.

I was out at the end of our neighborhood, by the pond and a field that led to an apartment complex. I drove past the pond on my right once and saw something black and white out of the corner of my eye. I flung the car into reverse and saw that it was just a bunch of ducks. I paused a moment and considered getting out of my car just to double-check, but figured if my Bruty was there, the ducks would not be that relaxed. I sat for a few seconds and looked to my left and across the field, I saw my two boys sprinting at top speed towards me. They recognized my car! I flew out of the car and yelled "Boys, let's go buh-bye!" I've never seen them run so fast. Yet they were so proud of their little journey, especially Tyson. I never have been so happy to see them in my life. I thought in a matter of 20 minutes my life couldn't been changed forever. Those boys are everything to me, and I've since forgotten everything I've said about giving Brutus away. Here's an old, previously "unreleased" photo of my boys out on our porch this summer. In honor of all the doggy lovers out there... enjoy the photos!

Now, for the pictures you'd rather see. This was Hutch from our Work-It Shop last weekend. Hutch was adorable! And, of course, much better behaved than my dogs.

What a cute holiday photo!

Same photo, just a little closer. His expression was just so cute.

The model was worn out from all the posing.

I thought this photo was so cute. We were on Ohio Wesleyan's campus. Hutch was sitting on the stairs and a lot of the photogs were shooting from the front. I (and a few others) went off to the side by the bushes. He spotted us though! And he kept taking turns looking at each photographer, letting us get our shot. Such a model!

As someone mentioned, he looks like he's waiting for the bus!

I like this photo a LOT, I just can't decide if I like Color or B&W better...

More Photo Fun

Hello again! I'm back with another post from our photo "Work-It Shop" last weekend. Here are a few more photos from the fun! If all goes well this weekend, I should have a final post for you by Sunday night. But, now I'm off to the Wild Lights at the Columbus Zoo!

One of the photog friends - Raquita.

Adorable Toby (Brittany Spaniel). I love this photo- Yum! Ornaments!

He is just SO cute!

I love the picture of Toby with Mommy! He looks so happy!

Studio Lighting Session

Megan let us practice with some funky studio lighting last night for some fun portraits with some college students. It was neat to learn, but as you know I'm more of a natural-light kinda girl/photographer. :) Here are a few of the ones that turned out for me.

Holly talked to us about how she made her Photoshop Action to make people's eyes sparkle, so I tried to re-create a similar effect with this lovely girl. I love how her blue eyes "sparkle."

I just love this sequence with the pink bear. Very cute!

The models were so great posing for us! Thanks for your help!

Photo Fun!

This weekend is a photo fun weekend in Delaware! My photographer friends Vicki & Dan from Rye Designs invited me along to a photography workshop, hosted by Megan Morgan. We had a blast all day taking photos of the couples and pets she brought in as models. Here's my first set of shots of an engaged couple and their two adorable (and extremely well-behaved) labs. We took the photos out and about in my town of Delaware. There were about 10 of us taking pictures like paparazzi... we got some stares and car honks! Many more photos from this weekend to come, but it's getting late (3am-late) and we have a full day of photos ahead of us tomorrow.

I find this pose to be quite humorous! We happened to be right next to the hydrant shooting against the brick wall, and Megan was thinking the same thing I was thinking!

Such BEAUTIFUL dogs!

I think the lighting and color in this one are awesome... this is my favorite. Love it!!

P.S. Thanks to Vicki and Dan for helping me re-format my blog photos so they can fit on the screen and look nice!

Holiday Portraits

Here are some cute photos from my follow-up session with Sophie and parents Beth and Chris (and Jake and Chloe). Who would've known it would be a challenge to get two crazy goldens, a baby, and mom and dad to look at the camera and smile all at once?? We compromised... Jake and Chloe get their own picture. I think they turned out so cute!

The family has ordered personally designed Christmas cards, as well. More to come soon...

Enjoy! Now it's time to work on my own holiday portraits and cards!
