Delaware, Ohio Photographer: Card Designs
Hello 2011!!! I hope all my friends, family, and clients had a WONDERFUL holiday season! I can't believe it came and went so quickly... it was JUST Halloween! I enjoyed a well-deserved (in my opinion) holiday break from work. But, now I think it's time to get back to work! Keep checking my blog for new things to come for 2011. I will be launching a new program for clients soon, have tons of photos to review from 2010, will be updating my website, and I have lots of pics from my holidays to share with you! And, of course, plenty of upcoming portrait sessions for you to enjoy.
To begin, check out the revamped blog... you like? I always struggle to work with the pre-set Blogger templates, so this is what I could do with it and my lack of knowledge of html code. I'm happy with the change for now.
Also, check out this cool new feature: at the bottom of each blog post, you can click on your "reaction" to the post. Did you love it? Did it get you teary eyed? Was it a favorite? Show me your love by clicking the boxes or leaving comments! Thanks a bunch!
Here are a few designs I did for 2010, thought I'd share them with you!
Our 2010 Harrington Holiday Card

And, remember Erika and Kevin? They had me design a Save the Date card for them this fall. Check it out! I cannot wait until the wedding!!!

Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer: Erika and Kevin - The REAL Sneak Peek!
So after giving you a little "taste" of the beautiful scenery from our session last night, I was very eager to work on more photos from my three awesome sessions this weekend! So, to kick it off are Erika and Kevin! They scouted out some amazing places in Dublin for our photos.
Congratulations to them! They just got engaged this summer and Kevin had a super creative proposal with a beautiful ring. And it's obvious how much he loves her - so of course she said "Yes!"
I met the couple last month when we were talking about wedding photography and I convinced them they needed to have some fall engagement pics, and I'm SO glad they did. I think you two will be very happy you did, as well!
Enjoy the yummy fall colors and great smiles! It was so hard to choose just a few to share! :)

In color?

Or B & W? Couldn't decide!

And, a little something special for you! When I met them at Erika's home, I noticed they liked the photo film strips, and I thought it would be a clever idea for a save the date. So, here's your very own Save the Date filmstrip! Hope you like!

Columbus, Ohio Wedding Photographer: Brittany and Matt's Engagement
This weekend I had the pleasure of shooting an engagement session with Brittany and Matt here in Columbus! They were so kind to drive up and meet me at one of my favorite park locations - Inniswood Metro Garden. I love all the flowers, scenery, and variety that they have. However, my one complaint is that the park rangers are crazy!!! During this session, this was my second - not first - time getting yelled at for smushing flowers that we didn't smush! The rangers watch everyone, especially photographers, like hawks there and then make wild accusations! I thought poor Matt was going to get walked away in handcuffs after laying his extra shirt on a rock, too close to the greenery. Geesh!
Anyway, Brittany and Matt had first gotten in contact with me almost a year ago to discuss shooting their wedding. Turns out, they've decided upon a destination wedding in Florida, so they wanted to get some engagement shots with me before then. So glad you two contacted me again! I had a great time and I hope you two did too! Hope you enjoy!
First, the BEAUTIFUL ring!

I told Brittany to be sassy and told Matt to check her... umm... out. And then she did the same. Too cute!!
Brittany's great idea!

Dayton, Ohio Wedding Photographer: Jodi & Andrew's Engagement
I am excited to introduce you to Jodi and Andrew! They are the next Harrington Photography wedding couple, and I was so excited when I talked to Jodi this week and she had finally decided to do an engagement session.
As a note to any upcoming Harrington wedding couples (*hint, hint, wink, wink*), I think an engagement session is a WONDERFUL way to get comfortable in front of the camera, to get to know your photographer better, to have fun, and to have wonderful memories of the two of you that you can even display at your wedding or reception!! (I hope you two agree!)
We could not have had a more beautiful day for photos. We went to MY engagement session location - Cox Arboretum in Dayton. It was super packed, but there were plenty of "hidden" places we were able to find away from the crowd. And, Jodi and Andrew were such good sports - never had a problem with sitting in grass, dirt, rocks... you name it! Open to anything!
The colors were AMAZING and Jodi's pink shirt made the color all the more vivid. I am having such a great time working on all these pics that it was so hard to choose favorites. So, I've narrowed it down to about 70! I'll make you two do the hard part - choosing! Here's a few favorite-favorites so far!

I told Andrew to make her laugh... and he did. These are my favorite kinds of moments.

LOVE this shot!

I had to entertain the voyeur in me. :)

I had to embrace the beautiful blue sky and sunshine!
I absolutely can NOT wait until the wedding next month!!! Stay tuned... :)

Columbus, Ohio Photographer: A Year in Review
Happy New Year blog! 2009 was an awesome, busy year. My business (and I, as a photographer) grew so much over the last year and I look forward with great anticipation for what 2010 will bring. I know there are definitely some new little ones on the way, and some great new marriages beginning. I can't wait for all of it!! I'm going to enjoy some peace and relaxation here in the first few months of the year, as I cut back on my day job (sort of!) and spend more time focusing on my business/hobby/passion. I know this summer and fall will be a busy one again.
So, as with tradition, I reflected back on the past year, and here is a tribute to all the great people (and pets!) whom I met over the past year and had the pleasure of doing business with.
Enjoy!! And THANK YOU!! Keep an eye on the blog and website for updates and changes to come in the near future!

Dayton, Ohio Photographer: Ashley & Sam Engagement Session
This weekend I had an engagement photo session with future Harrington Photography bride and groom - Ashley and Sam. The weather was perfect and the scenery was absolutely beautiful at Charleston Falls Nature Preserve near Dayton. I had never been there before, but Ashley and Sam were quite familiar with the location - it's where Sam proposed!! I definitely recommend it as a great photo location because of all the great scenery and textures. I hope to get to explore it again sometime with my hubby and pups. :)
I had a great time with these two. I met them a few weeks ago when I did Ashley's family's photo session (see below). You can really see how much they care about each other in the photos. And I am in LOVE with how they turned out - so bright and colorful! It was great natural lighting back in the woods.
Here are a few for you to enjoy.

Trying out a little creativity...

This is so adorable...

"Hey ba-by..." Haha! LOVE it! You two have such chemistry together.

A little fun: "Yay! We're engaged!"

I can't wait until the wedding, it will be so much fun!!

Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!
I am super excited for this post! I have two purposes in writing: First and foremost, to thank everyone who has supported me in my first year of business. I appreciate all that my clients, friends, family, and hubby have done to help me get my business off the ground in the first year. THANK YOU so much! I have met so many great people, friends, instructors, and mentors along the way. I am so grateful for all I've learned from everyone. But, I still have so much more ahead of me! To think, it all started with my birthday gift from Adam last January - a little website called Harrington Photos built from the ground up, with lots of love...
Secondly, I want to let you know a little bit about where I'm headed in 2009. My first new investment/change for the year is to present all my clients with slide shows of their images, set to music. As I've said before, I love to tell stories through photography, and that's what I plan to do for each and every client. So, I'm super excited to give a sneak preview of the slideshow (that clients have the opportunity to purchase on DVD) and I have combined that with a 2008 Thank You Tribute to all my previous clients. I am so awed and humbled watching this slideshow and remembering all that I was able to accomplish this year. Wow! Go me! :)
Turn your volume up... turn my John Mayer music off, and enjoy the show!
So, what did you think? I'm so excited about putting my first official slideshow together for a client this weekend. It's going to be beautiful!
In other news, I recently started a group/page/store (whatever they call it!) on Facebook. Click here to check out the Harrington Photography page and become a fan if you're not one already! Facebook is so much fun! I haven't gotten into the MySpace, Twitter, or Flickr thing yet, but maybe some day! It's a lot to keep up with.
And in final news, just around the bend I will be re-vamping my blog and website, too. They are both in need of a new look for the new year. I've been working on a new blog banner, but I just need to get caught up on all my photo editing and I'll be ready to unveil it soon. My goal is by Feb. 1. I'm really looking forward to all that's to come this year! I hope you enjoy it all!

Photo Fun!
I find this pose to be quite humorous! We happened to be right next to the hydrant shooting against the brick wall, and Megan was thinking the same thing I was thinking!
Such BEAUTIFUL dogs!
I think the lighting and color in this one are awesome... this is my favorite. Love it!!
P.S. Thanks to Vicki and Dan for helping me re-format my blog photos so they can fit on the screen and look nice!
